Custom Round Wood Business Logo Sign

Three ways to design your round logo sign

• Design it yourself. Use our sign designer to lay out a circle sign and see it before you order.
• Upload your logo. Have artwork ready? Upload it and we will send a digital proof. Vector files (.svg .eps .ai .pdf) cut most cleanly, though a high resolution PNG or JPEG works.
• Choose a template. Browse our logo template library, then add the template number and your text in the order notes.

Every route ends the same way: a digital proof for your approval before anything goes on the laser.

How the sign is built

Every round wood sign starts as a 1/2 inch Baltic birch disc. The logo and lettering are cut separately from 1/4 inch birch or MDF depending on the color you choose, then glued on by hand so they stand proud of the face rather than being printed or engraved into it. That raised layer is what gives a wooden circle sign its depth and its shadow line, and it is the difference between this and a printed or vinyl circular sign.

On smaller signs, or where a logo has fine detail to hold, we use 1/8 inch birch for the lettering instead. Choosing Natural for the logo color means the logo is cut from birch and left unpainted, so the grain shows through.

Round wood sign sizes

Four diameters. Measure the wall before choosing, since a round sign reads smaller than a rectangle of the same width.

• 17 inch for a home office, a studio wall, a treatment room, or behind a small reception desk
• 23 inch a good general purpose size for a shop wall, a salon, or an entry
• 29 inch when the logo needs to read from across a room or a waiting area
• 35 inch for a storefront, a large feature wall, or anywhere it has to be read from the street

Stain colors for your circle sign

White Wash, Natural, Western Oak, Aged Walnut, Dark Walnut, Navy, Weathered Gray and Ebony.

The background stain and the logo color are chosen separately, so you can run high contrast with a pale logo on Ebony, or keep it quiet and tonal.

Logo colors

White, Silver, Rose Gold, Gold, Natural Wood, Metallic Grey, Black, or custom and multiple colors.

If your brand has specific colors, say so in the order notes and we will match them as closely as paint allows. Multi-color logos are no problem on a custom business logo sign, since each element is cut and finished separately anyway.

Hanging it

A sawtooth hanger is included with every sign.

Mounting it on something other than drywall, or want a different method entirely? Tell us and we will do our best to accommodate it.

Displaying it outdoors

If chosen, the exteror finish option is a hand-sprayed spar urethane, one thick coat on both sides, and it is what stands between the wood and the weather. It will slightly darken the stain as it soaks into the grain, though it will not affect painted colors.

No wood finish lasts forever. Sun and rain are hard on any wooden sign, and one hanging in full exposure will need re-coating every year or two to keep looking new. That’s normal for real wood. Luckily, it’s a quick job to re-spray an exterior finish..

One thing that will really extend the lifespan of your outdoor sign: shade. A sign under an awning, an eave, or on a north-facing wall will outlast one in open sun by years rather than months. A sheltered spot would work better than an exposed one in the long run.

Hanging it indoors? There is no need for the finish at all!

How ordering works

1. Choose your diameter, stain and logo color.
2. Send your artwork, pick a template number, or build it in the sign designer.
3. We send a digital proof showing your logo on your chosen stain at your chosen size.
4. You approve it, or ask for changes. Revisions are free and there is no limit on them.
5. Only then does anything go on the laser.

A note on the wood

This is natural birch, so expect small variations in grain and tone from piece to piece. Two signs in the same stain will never be quite identical. We consider that the point.
