Textile companies have an unusual signage environment. Fabric showrooms are already full of
color, pattern and texture, often floor to ceiling, and that is the product doing its job. A
textile company office sign has to hold its own in that without adding to the
noise.

The project: white wash in a room full of color
A performance fabrics manufacturer came to us for their office. White wash base, green and
orange lettering.
The base choice is doing the heavy lifting. In a space with hanging samples, color cards and
racked bolts of fabric, a mid or dark stain reads as one more strong element in an already busy
room. White wash sits back. It behaves like the white wall behind a painting: present, neutral,
letting everything in front of it be the thing you look at.
The green and orange then carry the brand without needing to shout, because they are the only
brand colors in a room where every other color belongs to the products.
What fabric showrooms and design studios need
- A neutral that recedes. The samples are the show.
- Texture that complements rather than competes. Wood grain is subtle next to
woven fabric. - Accurate brand color. Textile buyers are professionally color sensitive and
will notice a poor match faster than almost any other client. - Good under showroom lighting, which is usually bright and color corrected.
- Works for trade shows too, since much of this industry sells at events.
Sizing by the kind of space it goes in
| Space | Typical size | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Showroom reception or entrance | 36″ x 18″ to 48″ x 24″ | First thing a trade buyer sees, competes with sample walls |
| Design studio or office wall | 24″ x 18″ to 36″ x 24″ | Standard interior viewing distance |
| Trade show stand | 24″ x 12″ to 36″ x 18″ | Must travel, be handled and rehang quickly |
| Mill or production office | 24″ x 18″ to 36″ x 24″ | Functional space, needs presence |
| Large open showroom | 48″ up to 60″ | Long sightlines, high ceilings |
If the sign is going to trade shows, keep it at or under 36 inches. A trade showroom
logo sign that needs two people and a crate to move stops travelling after the first
event.
Frequently asked questions
Which stain works in a colorful showroom?
White wash, natural and weathered grey all recede. Save dark stains for spaces where the sign
needs to lead rather than support.
Can you match our brand colors precisely?
Yes, hand mixed against your reference. Send values or a printed sample. For a color critical
industry, a printed sample posted to us gives the best result.
Can we use the same sign at trade shows and in the showroom?
Yes if you keep it portable. Under 36 inches with sawtooth hangers travels well.
Can you produce matching signs for several showrooms?
Yes, batch priced, with the spec and color mixes kept on file for reorders.
How long does it take?
About a week for an interior sign. We send a free proof before cutting.
