There is a difference between a clinic sign and a health company office sign,
and it is worth naming. A clinic is reassuring a patient. A health company head office is
reassuring a partner, an investor or a regulator. Same industry, completely different room, and
the signage should not be the same.

The project: navy rather than black
A health and wellness company came to us for their corporate office. Navy stained base, white
and multi color logo.
Navy is the interesting choice here and it is one more businesses should consider. It occupies
almost the same visual weight as ebony from across a room, so you get the same sense of
seriousness and the same strong contrast for light lettering. Up close it is unmistakably not
black, and that small difference reads as considered rather than default.
It also does something useful for healthcare specifically. Black in a medical context can tip
toward severe. Navy carries authority without the funereal edge, which is why it dominates
healthcare and finance branding in the first place. Putting it on the wall in wood rather than
print keeps the warmth in the material while the color does the serious work.
The multi color element on top is what stops it being corporate wallpaper. Each color was hand
mixed and applied separately so the multi color logo wood sign matches the brand
rather than approximating it.

Sizing corporate healthcare signage by viewing distance
Corporate lobbies are bigger than clinic waiting rooms, and this is where most orders go wrong.
| Where the visitor is | Distance | Size that reads |
|---|---|---|
| At the reception desk | 3 to 6 ft | 18″ x 12″ to 24″ x 18″ |
| Waiting area seating | 8 to 15 ft | 24″ x 18″ to 36″ x 24″ |
| Entering from the main door | 15 to 25 ft | 36″ x 24″ to 48″ x 24″ |
| Stepping out of a lift | 25 to 40 ft | 48″ x 24″ to 60″ x 24″ |
| Double height or atrium lobby | 40 ft and up | 60″ x 36″, our maximum |
Stand where a visitor stands. If you are between two sizes, go up. A healthcare
corporate office sign that is slightly too big reads as confident. One that is slightly
too small reads as an afterthought, and that is the more expensive mistake.
What corporate health offices need
- Authority without coldness. Navy, dark walnut and ebony all deliver it.
- Accurate brand color, because health brands are usually tightly specified.
- Scale for a real lobby, not a treatment room.
- Something warmer than the industry default of acrylic and brushed metal.
Frequently asked questions
What size sign for a corporate office lobby?
Most land between 36″ x 24″ and 48″ x 24″. Measure from your entrance to the wall and use the
table above.
Is navy stain very different from ebony?
From a distance they carry similar weight. Up close navy is clearly blue and reads softer, which
suits healthcare better than black.
Can you handle a logo with several colors?
Yes. Each is hand mixed and applied separately, which adds build time but gets a real match.
Can we order matching signs for several sites?
Yes, batch priced, and we keep the spec and color mixes on file so later reorders match.
How large can you go?
60 inches on the long side, larger than most makers can cut or ship.
