The project: ebony, a truck silhouette and a plate style frame
This one was built on ebony with white and natural lettering, laid out inside a plate style
frame with a truck silhouette above the name.
Ebony is the right base for a garage and the reason is practical rather than aesthetic. Garages
are dusty, oily, and lit with bright overhead fluorescents or LED shop lights. A light stain in
that environment shows every mark, and the flat overhead lighting washes it out. Ebony hides
handling, holds its depth under harsh light, and gives white lettering the contrast it needs to
read from across a two car bay.
The truck silhouette is what makes it personal, and it is the sort of detail worth asking for.
A name on a rectangle is a sign. A name with the vehicle somebody actually owns is a gift.
